The Transformation of Benedict in Much Ado About Nothing In Much Ado About Nothing Shakespeare manages to transform Benedict from a bachelor to being in love with Beatrice. Shakespeare does extremely well to make this change of character seem believable as it such a big one. Shakespeare does this by using key scenes to gradually reveal the true relationship between the two. This transformation is especially interesting as at the beginning of the play he argues with Beatrice and declares he will always be a bachelor. In Act I Scene I when the visitors arrive in Messina, Benedict appears to be an arrogant, patronising womaniser. He seems to be hurt by Beatrice?s comments that ?he is a princes jester? as unusually for Benedict he doesn?t say very much and uses shorter replies to her remarks than usual. This episode is the first part of Benedict?s transformation and we see he is not quite how he describes himself in the opening scene as he does care what Beatrice thinks and when he says ?I would not marry her, though she were endowed with all that Adam had left him before he transgressed? it shows that he has actually thought about marrying Beatrice. In Act II Scene III Benedict has a very long soliloquy at the beginning. This is possibly the most important of all the scenes in this transformation as we see Benedict change his mind when he learns of how he thinks Beatrice feels. In his soliloquy he says ?I do much wonder that one man? become the argument of his own scorn by falling in love?. This line shows that Benedict is still very much a bachelor. Another example in this soliloquy is when he says ?May I be so converted?I cannot tell; I think not? All though he thinks he will not change from his bachelor ways, he does not seem as assured as he did at the beginning of the play and his view lacks conviction. The Canadian Justice System And Capital Punishment

On December 11th, 1962 an important event occurred, an event that would change the Canadian justice system in its views on capital punishment. Two men, Arthur Lucas, and Ronald Turpin was to be executed in Canada for committing crimes. Both had been accused of committing murder, Lucas for killing an officer while fleeing a robbery and Turpin for murdering an undercover narcotics officer. Both were hanged back to back at midnight and buried side by side with no marking on their graves. Lucas and Turpin were the last to be executed under capital punishment and since then Canada has stopped this practice. Capital punishment has become the subject of debate in Canada of whether it should be reintroduced. But the question is, does Canada really need to re-introduce capital punishment? Canada as a country is doing perfectly fine with its justice system and the need for capital punishment seems unnecessary. Capital punishment is expensive to maintain and raises the question of human rights and morals as well as to injustice to those who are innocent who might be wrongfully executed. Changes that he made during his time still remain strong in our time such as the Calendar. Gaius Julius Caesar was a man of high prestige, charm and talent. His physical appearance and the way he put himself out to the public was a great factor to his iconic ongoing Legacy. He was described as â€Å"tall, with a pale complexion, shapely limbs, a rather chubby face and black piercing eyes†(Garland). This distinct description of Caesar gives an iconic symbol to many Romans. His description of a strong male physic can be linked to his military achievements. Caesar was fairly active during war and had a high expectation of winning. In the battle of Gaul in Alesia he served with his men at their weakest point and ended up winning the war. Political leaders at his time such as Pompey and Vercingetorix would order their army rather then lead them. According to Garland â€Å"He marched alongside his legionaries bareheaded in both sun and rain, and made it a point of honour to endure the same hardships† it not only proves the point of his highly physic body but shows his commitment and dedication to his army giving the public the sense of a strong and dedicated leader. He also had statues proving his significance in his lifetime; in fact six marble statues were made of him. Such great looks and talent came along the idea of Caesar being a â€Å"womanizer and a sodomite† (Garland ) as Suetonius describes the reaction of the public to Caesar as being â€Å"every woman’s man and every man’s woman† linking to the concept of him being strongly admired by many Roman people at his time. He encountered many relationships at his time including Cleopatra who wasn’t even from the same country at him. His charm had an affect everywhere he went. Caesars ability to work cohesively alongside his army during war and coming up with strategies to win, helped earn his legacy in the Roman Society. Caesar was a highly respected General though he grew up in the world of politics rather than a military influence. â€Å"Caesar was a amateur solider of a genius, neither trained or educated at war† (Fuller). Ceasar developed a knowledge of war by his own personal experience in battle. His first real encounter at war was in his early 20’s where he was kidnapped by pirates overseas whilst returning from studies. He was captured and forced to pay a ransom to be released, he valued to seek revenge to those who captured him which he ended up crucifying till their last breathe. Since then Caesar has gained experience during battles by learning tactics affective to winning. One of his main and affective tactics was gaining a relationship with his army. All his men were paid soldiers who were trained to fight in war. Caesar ate, slept and trained with them, he even knew all his centurions names by heart from all legions. Through this he gained their trust and motivated them to go on even when times were going rough since battles could take months. According to Hirtius â€Å"not one of his campaigns were adequately prepared or not prepared at all† this motivation was needed so that the soldiers could push forward and remain under Caesar, if not Caesar wouldn’t have that strong army and supporters to back him up hence him even winning or getting past the wars. Even though it was a major risk for him to take an account of setting himself and his army to battles not intended for him to do, if he had never had took the risk he would have never be as recognized as a legend. Another tactic and strategy used by Caesar was his ability of speed. Since his army was highly trained men they knew exactly what to do on Caesar’s request and worked in sync with it to. As we know, employee should have some flexibility of work. Melanie has just run after high productivity, she didnt take care about the condition of her employee. She should have know that automatically if the workers are not happy the productivity would decrease. But Melanie didnt see that this way she had prefer to take new workers than keeping the ancient one. Which has result to a high labour turnover. Having an autocratic leadership is also good because it helps the company to take decision quickly. This kind of leadership is mostly present in most Small medium companies. 2) There is a problem in Melanies department. To change this, as an HR we can use Maslows hierarchy of need model. Abraham Maslow developed where humans have five needs which will fulfill their needs. Humans need begin with needs, which are vital to survive, and then one by one he try to satisfy higher needs. Their products will make us happier or thinner, or prettier. The advertisers often use the picture of youth and vitality so that the public will associate that particular product or service with being young and beautiful. They do this because of course in our society youth and beauty are to be coveted. Everyone would like to be forever young and beautiful or for as long as they can anyway. So, everyone is trying to look younger or wants to look younger. The things that we can associate with youth are obvious. We see the picture of youth and beauty everywhere. Look in any magazine, Watch TV, see billboards, everywhere you turn we see young, beautiful people. Youth is synonymous with beauty so little wonder why when you read this bumper sticker â€Å"few women admit their age, few men act i t† a lot of women won’t divulge their age. To do so would be to admit they are perhaps older than they look or if we were to know their real age we might say something (hopefully to ourselves) like â€Å"jeez, she looks a lot older than that!†   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  The media is really the one at work that shapes a lot of our attitudes and beliefs. They might not necessarily be healthy attitudes and beliefs but they are the ones that have been shoved in front of our faces from the day we were born. Believe me, they know how powerful and influential they (the media) can be. The most disturbing thing to me about advertising is the ideal female body they use. It is absolutely tight, contained, bolted down. Being thin is not enough. Women need to be in shape as well. Obtaining that body becomes a matter of self-control. It illustrates to me that they are saying thin women are in control. They have mastered the discipline of dieting and exercise. It is the fat women who are not in control. Fat has become associated with laziness and lack of self-discipline. Of the statistics that I ran across while researching this topic said that eighty percent of girls between the ages of eight and twelve are on a diet. The number one wish of most women and girls is to loose weight. Media presents images that tell woman and girls that acceptance means being unnaturally thin. The average fashion model,... ...than among males. The ideals of female beauty have not always been inbodied in the figure of most of today’s â€Å"super models† whose bodies resemble that of a young boy, not a woman. Figures like that of Marilyn Monroe, which today are considered fat, were the ideals of the time thirty years ago. It seems difficult to dispute that the attainment of the slender ideal is very painful for many women. in light of the statistics given earlier (only five percent of women can achieve the ideal fashion model form), it is an impossible task for women to pursue. Women develop a highly damaging relationship with food that does very little except limit their lives. Advertising has served as a disciplinary force in the lives of women. Advertisers create images that dictate cultural trends indicative of the time. The dominating image of the painfully thin woman in advertising remains the ideal for the American women. The grim truth is that attaining the slender body of today is not realistic for most women. Their bodies are not naturally shaped like those of twelve-year old boys. Eating disorders are on the rise, and the relationship women have with food is becoming an increasingly dangerous one.

Many crit ics say that because Spurlock was not exercising regularly and was intentionally consuming an average of 5,000 calories a day, that anybody would have had the same results.Nonetheless after Spurlock carried out his experiment, he proved his case which is, walking 5,000 steps a day and consuming 5,000 calories a day of just McDonald’s is dangerous from every view and McDonald’s should place warning labels on all their food that is sold to the public. Though warning labels’ on McDonalds food would not harm business as much as corporate thinks it will, in the film Super Size Me, Spurlock approaches random members on the street of Manhattan, New York and ask if they know how bad McDonalds is for them and if so, why do they continue to eat it?Every person that was addressed by Spurlock stated yes they do know fast food restaurants are the main cause for health problems, but they still love to eat out.
